Georgia Southern University is located in the city of Statesboro, Georgia. Known as a college town, Statesboro had a population just over 27,000 as of 2008. Blind Willie McTell wrote a blues song in the 1920s called, "Statesboro Blues," which was later covered by The Allman Brothers Band in the '70s.
